The civil parish of Garvestone includes the villages of Garvestone, Reymerston and Thuxton. These villages have a combined population of 660 as of the 2011 Census.

Garvestone is situated on the upper reaches of the River Yare. However, at this point,  it is more of a fast-flowing stream. Within the village you will find, a community primary school, a 14th Century church, a chapel, and a community village hall which is also shared with Thuxton. The village hall is the heart of the community as it serves as a location for various groups and clubs, as well as events.

Thuxton has transport links to Dereham and Wymondham in the form of a train from the local Mid Norfolk Station. Part of the station has been converted into holiday accommodation for those visiting the village and the nearby area.

The village of Reymerston is located six miles to the north west of Wymondham and six miles to the south east of Dereham. Although small in size, the village was once the home to British flying legend and James Bond stuntman, Ken Wallis, who lived at Reymerston Hall for more than 60 years. It was here he kept and flew his collection of autogyros.
